It's not beside the point at all - it is the whole point.
"Why is she acting like falling in love in an arranged marriage is weird and uncommon"
Because It is. Arranged marriages are marriages of social coercion - even if the two parties want to split they might not be able to for what consequences may occur to themselves or their families. So even if one party is unfaithful the other might not have any choice in the matter because they can't walk away.
Hell, even Love-Marriage had that particular problem for centuries - and still does in some parts of the United States - because of familial pressure to "just work it out", "stay there for the child", or just straight religious indoctrination that Divorce is Immoral.
It does still miss the point, and you are missing the point AGAIN.
For example, imagine if she were talking about bungee jumping. Bungee jumping is an inherently risky-LOOKING, emphasis on looking, activity. You're jumping off a high point. And yet, it is considered one of the safest extreme sports, with one death per half million jumps. It would be like if she were talking about bungee jumping and found it strange for people to survive, even if the vast majority do it safely.
Second, you're just so incredibly wrong. You can literally look up statistics.
This is just one statistic showing divorce rates are 40% for couples in the US in non-arranged marriages versus four percent for arranged marriages.
And yes, there are issues of social pressure that you even admit are present even in non-arranged marriages. But then you can just emptily complain about that in everything. You need to be able to backup your argument with something verifiable.
This is an article about Indian couples that specifically says the couples have a choice on whether to proceed in arranged marriages, and yet they are still more satisfied than non-arranged marriages.
My end result is that she acts like it is strange and unheard of for an arranged marriage to be successful. You come in doing the exact same thing. You're both wrong, and you could literally look up how wrong you are.
