I kinda don't like this trope to be honest; the idea that the villainess was right the entire time and the heroine was evil.

Like, in the canon of those works, the villainesses were actually horrible people even without targetting the heroine and the heroine is loved because she's a good person.

Those were stories to give hope that good can surpass evil.

And I liked the OG trope where the new person gets into the villainess' body at the start and changes everything and then befriends the heroine character much better than this cheap "deconstruction" where the heroine was always the bad guy and the villainess was the real victim BS....

Those letters are a year old so that means there is a 3rd party who also knows what will happen and on Alaxandra's side... hmmm. The plot thickens

I honestly don't mind the deconstruction, at all. The otome villainess isekai subgenre, as seemingly specific as it sounds, is already oversaturated with stories that play their tropes straight. So I welcome new takes and twists, honestly, and unusual pairings, and multiple reincarnators etc.

Wait so I know in game everyone abandoned her but it looks like in real life her family at least cares for her and wouldn't abandon her, minus the sister. And the other royals are also on her side, some bullying cant be a reason to dissolve a royal engagement completely when everyone knows the other girl is seducing all the other noble boys around her? Plus they said the other noble ladies don't like potato girl so how do the royals plan on keeping the nobles support if all the daughters finance or potential bachelors have been stolen away in that terrible worship potato ending?
Her family might like her but to uphold their reputation it doesn't mean they won't drop her like a hot potato. XD couldn't help myself there. They are still of the mindset to set up engagements for their kids regardless of their feelings.

And it's not just what she did but also what other people did that she's getting framed for. She mentioned in a previous chapter about hoodlums being hired to rough Lucia up so that might be what actually caused her downfall. And seeing someone get dragged down that was your competition would lead most other people to just not speak up. Other wouldn't want fingers pointed at them or get on the wrong people's bad side, etc.

The Royal family can just drop the crown prince to just a prince and raise another son up by creating the connections that were tarnished. Other families will be more than willing to look the other way if it gives their daughters a chance at becoming Queen.

I think in this case it's more like the lesser evil than a victim. Neither is "innocent" or "good".

Alexandra did mess with the heroine out of jealousy. The heroine was bullied(just by lots of people instead of just one).

If anyone sucks I'd say it's the Prince. He falls for stupid tricks easily. Not good for a future king.

I'm okay with either side as long as they bring something new to the table.

Though I can say with absolutely certainty that I'm tired of reverse harems. And when it includes the heroine, they become even more annoying...

But in these stories, he's not meant to be... see the issue??? This genre is basically a twisted deconstruction... but the issue is that it's changing the cores of what these characters are and only keeping the events.

Usually, the villainess is horrible and the righteous prince stops her.....

Novels that actually follow up with that include "Fiancée’s Observation Log Of The Self-Proclaimed Villainess" where they acknowledge that the villainess actually deserved everything and she wasn't some tragic victim and "My Next Life as a Villainess - All Routes Lead to Doom!"

Because it deconstructs the tropes, but also acknowledges that the good guys are good and the bad guys are bad, but uses the different person in there to show how much things would change without the villainess being evil but them all still being the good guys...
