Why is it that practically every manga/manhwa/manhua makes a point of the curtains/blinds/shades being open when people are having sex?!

The guy who was watching eventually got bored because the scene was that repetitive. I'll leave what that entails to your imagination.
One thing to correct regarding SilentStorm's spoiler:
Alexandra took the girl in out of humanitarian concern, since no half-way decent person would leave a child with someone that twisted. Furthermore, Alexandra does eventually tell her, and the girl, who had basically figured it out already, continues to think of Alexandra and Gerald as her parents and holds a lot of contempt for her birth parents. While she doesn't show much in the second volume, her little brother does as the male lead (or likely male lead), and although he was taken in by different people, has the same feelings regarding the parents who raised him as opposed to his biological ones. Apparently, both siblings have all of their biological parents' good qualities and none of the bad.
