I'm assuming it was stuff we didn't need to see from both his, and their perspectives to save time, that him using it to trust them was more important, as well as leaving a few future clips from their perspective for what the plan is that we'll see after the plan is excuted for suspense reasons.

Guessing Karma saw herself in the Grandma, probably suffering from immense PTSD from being an imprisoned lab experiment for so many years. Seeing someone else chained up and unable to escape might have triggered something. Just a theory though.
