Hello there, I feel like Isekai manga has seriously gone down the drain. Like the tag is really being beaten to death. The amount of uninteresting garbage with Isekai in it is seriously worrying, since due to this becoming a thing, I feel scared of reading manga with the Isekai tag now. The same story line keeps happening over and over, same old boring MC in every story but always with some small little quirk to make them unique!
It is seriously sad to see the tag being abused like this. I basically started reading because of Isekai, so to see this happen is pretty sad. Hope I can find some good Isekai soon, but I'm having real doubts.
Thanks for putting up with my meaningless rant, if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. 🙂

You're right isekai is a genre that has gotten boring. Isekai could actually be an amazing genre but authors are afraid of making something that nobody likes so they just stick to the basic formula of Slave girls, Adventurers guild, op MC, Royal Academy, etc.

Good isekai, like most of other genre, is buried deep within trash. I can give you few recommendations like:


- I Was Summoned by the Demon Lord, but I Can't Understand Her Language (more slice of life, but it's cute)
- Cheating Men Must Die (basically get yourself isekai'd to multiple universe to wreck unfaithful people. Personally my favourite because the outcome depends on character personality)
- The Ride On King (Yooo, every need to read Putin isekai 😂)
- Kumo Desu Ga, Nani ka (popular, so I don't need to explain)
- Konjiki no Word Master - Yuusha Yonin ni Makikomareta Unique Cheat (good world building)

Those are few I found decent.

Well, the Isekai genre suffers from several factors:
1. Escapism
2. Self-indulgence
3. Mass

Sadly, the "experience an adventure" part has been overwritten by "take a vacation", which probably has something to do with the current Japanese Zeitgeist. It's pretty much wish-fulfillment of escaping the japanese workaholic culture, nowadays.
I guess it could be solved by making an absolutely heretical story about introducing the concepts of "not working yourself to death", "taking proper vacations" and the like to japanese society, lol.
Also, the fact that most literature is garbage-tier also applies to manga and isekai. If you go to a supermarket, there always is a section of low-quality trash novels, here, however, they aren't relegated to a trash-novel section, but are on the same level as all other stories.

You are right I remember I started watching anime and reading manga because of this isekai tag it's something really bad and funny at the same time when I enter every isekai manga and read the same description 😂😂
Any way authours like standards to keep themselves safe and gurantee that they will sell their manga
Like what heppens in harem mangas (I don't like harem please don't mind me😊) just by watching the PV the same weak mc the same girls that they like him even with the same character in each manga !!
And shoujo manga to the same plain fmc the same wonderful handsome and super popular mc
So it's just standards that makes manga are the same not just isekai itself
So we should encourage unique mangas to defeat these trash
