I don't think it will, at least not to any serious degree. I think the author is just going to make any new characters attractive female archetypes though, because that's what's marketable and (hopefully more importantly) that's probably what they enjoy drawing.

Honestly, it allows the sale of figs and other merch later while letting the focus remain on the original couple, which is kinda a win win.
