I think this practice is kinda like an internship but for amateur mangakas, like, tatsuki fujimoto the mangaka behind chainsawman has had several of his assistants become great mangakas themselves, one of them being the author of spy x family i think.

あれ? Was Koi a misreading before and it was always supposed to be Ren? Or is Miyamoto just calling her wrong?

Iirc her name was written with kanji 恋, which can be read as both ren (like in 恋愛 ren'ai) or koi (like in 恋人 koibito). Her official name reading is Ren, but bro read it as Koi at first and it stuck since.
