Not to mention the family obviously wouldn't make him walk through the maze if they didn't want him to walk through the maze, for their own reasons. Logic dictates that if he says "Screw this!" and goes away, the request will be cancelled.That whole maze part was pretty cool, especially if you listen to some somber slow music as you read through the chapter.
And I don't why people in the comments are saying he should just leave, the girl just said that it would be impossible to decline a request from this family so angering them is probably not a wise idea.. (Page 6)
I mean, this isn't even foreshadowing. The author is sraight up telling us what's gonna happen next. Reeks of desperation, but given how ADHD the majority of modern audiences are and how many infinitely similar works they have to pick from, it's not really surprising.I wonder why some authors love those cheap and blatant foreshadowing lines. If you want to foreshadow something, do it properly, not in text boxes.
