Is it weird that I like this Gakuro a little better than main series Gakuro

I think I would like the main series if it was more like Kakegurui, with MC being just a narrator of a story of the main protagonist, in this case Nue, thrown by her into one mess or another and then rescued from it. This is more like that and is better for it.

Definitely feels like he was dumbed down in the serialization. But still, you can see the potential in this oneshot. It has humor, character growth, unique design and power system. It may not do any of those in a great way but sometimes doing everything average is good enough. You don't need to break new barriers or reinvent the wheel.
