What if the manga goes all meta and they realize they're also just characters in a story. Would be pretty cool.

I like that the conclusion for this is similar to the og novel, with the Phantom letting the girl go and happy knowing she will be happy, both the girl and the mom are more similar to the Phantom than Christine( og novel's heroine )
Which make sense, as all three of has been beaten down by the world and abuse so when one person treat them with respect and dignity they instantly cling to it
Ultimately its the person who gave them love and they,themselves let go
