I don't know why authors always have rejected girls 'not give up' when all it is is pointless cliche drama/stakes that I'm kinda sick of at this point, and only serves to hurt the rejected girl even more
Welcome to Japan, we have to reinforce that life has to be miserable. We don't want you getting all happy now, do we?? I mean, you work at a black company, have to do voluntary overtime until 10 pm, then stay in a capsule hotel because it would take you two hours to get home. You don't have a relationship because...when and with what money? So why on god's earth would you expect that the cute, romantic, fluffy manga you are reading in your capsule bed would have a happy ending, for crying out loud???!!!!:aquadrink:

I actually started laughing in the end. This was cruel for no reason.

I was actually getting on board, when she said she ain't giving up because it is not like the MC has started dating the girl he likes. I thought she was actually being strong and playful. I was like pumping my fist and being like with ya girlie! You cool AF!

But then the author made it depressing for no reason with her bookmark being destroyed. The giving up scene could easily been have positive.

If this was supposed to be MCs growth (which was already happening all the same), there was no need for Suzuri's depreso ending. She could have easily gotten a "I'm content that I actually tried, I have no regrets... (+Ve stonks)"
This ending being cruel like this just made it funny.

Ngl this dynamic felt kinda forced, I understand the need of drama in a romance but the story really didn't do it for me in selling me this character as someone I should care for, not even due to her lack of time in the story —Which is a factor— but for the clear intention of this character, implemented as a simple narrative device.
