Well no. Controlling a hundred small wooden golems at once is out of the question.
They use witch's hair for the articulations. The witch will go bald!

I generally like it, but as it's been pointed out, to make Naga look smarter they make everyone else a moron.

I mean, IF this was magic on the level of "a single fire spell kills 100 humans", then it'd be logical for the witches to be ignorant about tactics. What tactics? A single spell decimates an army. But that's not the case. The golem is their main defense, and they NEVER tried to find other ways to use it?

Also, I understand there's always a before and an after. The first humans irl to see a siege weapon must have been surprised too. But I doubt THAT was the first battering ram to ever be built in that world...

Based off of his name "Naga" and the whole "I'll unite them all" thing, I think it's safe to assume that this guy is Oda Nobunaga

If it's not broken, you don't fix it. Even moreso here where their life depend on it.
They re also less than 10 and more importantly they re clearly more of an improvised militia rather than seasonned war masters: they only do this sieges because they have to, otherwise they d rather do anything else.

And the forces that were sent after them before were twice as small, and probably less organized too: barely better than a pogrom mob.

Having someone new lets you look at it from another angle rather than how it's always done, especially as he got the mindset of a conqueror while they are just trying to stay out of trouble
