He was setup at the beginning. Alsrod knew the fight against the church will over inflate his ego. Sadly, if he heeded Alsrod's advice against the former king then he could have lasted a bit longer.

Nah, MC gonna set him up next chapter, he make him fall and then Avada Kedavra appear a knife make it look like he try to assassinate the empress, by doing so he worsening the guy images for no one to dare to support him and forward to his execution.

I used the actual names that Yen Press (official English Publisher for the Light Novel that the manga is based on) used. Reading through the manga was a mess with each chapter having different names translated different, so I decided to go with the actual official source for the names.
