This is the first time I've seen Viet names (characters?) in a manga and that makes me really happy. Sure it's about a socialist dictatorship but I mean if it's the Great General Myao I'm fine with it haha

First, as you already know, this country is fictive. In my opinion, just from the first two chapters, this socialist country is compiled from several well known socialist countries, therefore there are references such as names from different countries, e.g. Coldona, Chobirov, Khan, Nguyen, even Myao herself.
Maybe it's an attempt to not antagonize a specific country.
IMO, Myao is a form of word play. It's sounds like a cat voice, and in Chinese, the "cat" is "mao". The rest is self explanatory.
