Here's some fun trivia for you... I recall reading that they did a poll among the Japanese public about who the most popular character in the entire series was... Tomii finished 6th!!!! Ahead of a lot of characters that you'd think would be more beloved... I wish I'd saved that link now that I can't find it because I was gobsmacked when I read that.

Tomii is basically a Pointy Haired Boss. For those of you who aren't American or otherwise don't know about it, there was a cartoon called Dilbert that once had a very insightful and funny way of satirizing American office workplace culture. The Pointy Haired Boss (who is never named) is the manager at the office where Dilbert works. He's not only completely stupid in that he thinks he's far more valuable than he is, but also an utter asshole... Tomii's characterization reminds me a great deal of PHB.

I remember the character that won the poll was Kaibara. I don't remember the rest of the order other than Yamaoka actually finished 7th since he was right behind Tomii (something that really stuck in my head). I think there was a link to it on Twitter, but damned if I can find it now. If I ever do, I'll link it.

Yep, it was. Granted, I'm sure that was only one fan poll, done with a limited participation, but Tomii finishing so high was startling to me.
