Maybe some small rule for me to follow from now on:

Whenever what seems to be the name of a certain person of renown appears in Oishinbo (like Hajime Kimura), I should be inclined to think it's a real person until Google Search proves me otherwise.

Boiled bacon 😭😭😭 I love my bacon crispy, so I'm not into any bacon style that prevents it from crisping (thick cut, boiled, roasted, lean, etc). Most non-pork bacons too.

Also, I noticed that you wrote the person's name as Kurogasiwa to match the name of his company, but people sometimes purposely style the spelling differently when they use their own name as a company or brand. Toyota's founder was actually named Toyoda, for example. Or singer Gackt whose stage name is just based on his original name Gakuto, but just gave it an unusual spelling. So I kinda think the spelling on the company sign doesn't dictate the spelling of the person's original name. The kanji for the name 黒柏 seems to be more commonly read as "KuroKashiwa", after all.

True enough. I don't doubt the characters would pronounce his name Kurogashiwa in real life, but I also have to consider that I'm translating for an audience that isn't necessarily familiar with how variable Japanese romanization can be.

So to keep things straightforward, if a character's name is spelled out in the chapter somewhere, I will most likely follow that spelling. (Unless the spelling is egregiously stupid, but I haven't encountered that yet.)
