I've been wondering how best to celebrate this milestone, and I figure a character map would be pretty fun.

That buffer is not very far away so I'm gonna have to pick up the pace.

As for the chapter itself, I like how Yamaoka is finally awakening to his potential feelings for Kurita. Couldn't have picked a worse time to do it, having just agreed to let her get with Kinjo, but that's what builds that cheesy schooltime romance drama, no?

A small translation note: when Yamaoka is at the bar, he uses the cocktail picks from the martinis to spell 'aho' (アホ), a fairly rude word meaning 'idiot.' He's obviously getting deep into the self-deprecation when he's drunk.

Congrats on chapter 300! Your progress on this is genuinely awe-inspiring, one of the most ambitious scanlation projects I've ever seen tackled, and with such aplomb!

The romantic polygon subplots aren't always the best in this manga, and sometimes are even the worst, but there's something really cathartic about seeing Yamaoka slowly and painfully realize his own feelings.

I like how this is not leaning in the direction of 'these two are the main characters so they have to fall in love' but for once it's more 'these two are genuine oddballs who treasure food this much, and they're uniquely suited for each other '

I think this development is funny enough to not mind the Romantic Rival card being used so much. It's a little funny that his rival thought 'Well you see him losing out on delicious food to attend to a friend, girls hate that'.

Eesh, I never liked forced dialogue. I do know that sometimes in a pinch you'd just babble nonsense excuses that didn't make the most sense, and Yamaoka is drunk too, but eeeh.
When asked "Why are you here?" Yamaoka could've said "You talked big about how good this place is before, of course I wanted to try it too!! Don't hog all the good food to yourself!!"
