Why is the successor of restaurant are always horrible people in Oishinbo

All kidding aside, restaurant work is horribly stressful, especially at that time. Most chefs coped with cigarettes, booze, pills, or some other narcotic. It also had, as a profession, a remarkably high suicide rate.

So it makes sense to me that a lot of them crack.

Yeah, like in the manga Bambino, which is overall very authentically translating the vibe of s highstress Italian restaurant working experience, at one point, the protag and his pal smoke after a shift, and the head chef notices em and they put em out and the headchef says something to he ffect " A month of working here and you wont smoke again " and like..no?

....its the opposite? Restaurant workers tend to be HUGE smokers.

Last panel is so good, I should tell everyone my favourite idea of what can make Yamaoka and Kurita romance better for me: That is them just doing the good old runaway couple thingie EXCEPT this is just them taking a vacation together without telling anyone, no interlopers which includes the love interests and the FUCKING ANNOYING wingmen crew (Except Tanimura, he's super goated, he should be the person who helped them with this endeavour), because I AM TIRED with how their romance is literally full of obstacles that are so slapsticky, it's annoying as heck, like I don't care about no goddamn love interests, they just keep making the Yamaoka-Kurita romance difficult to read even when I get it, I get the reasons for the obstacles existence, doesn't make them any less insufferable

Sweet story and stuff, but I was bothered by the part that said they only open shop for one day for the whole year. So... What money are they living off of on the daily? Pensions? Or the New Year fest so good it can last them for an entire year?
