You might be right! The publishing timeline works out, there are reviews that claim this book started an international 'Tofu Revolution', and the table of contents suggest various methods of preparing tofu.
I may have come across the book in my research and dismissed it because the author was different, but yeah, maybe Kariya just got inspired and chose to have a different author.
