Its quite nice seeing many familiar faces in this volume.
So just FYI, the more popular name for the diah is 'Buddha jump over the wall'.
The dish is a luxury twist of shark fin soup from fujian. A staple of imperial banquet.
The name implies that even vegetarian Buddhist monk like Sidharta Gautama will jump over the wall to seek the dish once they smelled it.
my bad then. should i delete my comment as it is a spoiler?Yeah, the machine even translated it that way. I thought that would be rather unwieldy to try and fit inside a smaller speech bubble (Oishinbo's speech bubble sizes really make it difficult to make the text readable sometimes, incidentally), so I went with Buddha's Delight (I can't remember what the anime translators called it, it's been awhile since I watched that episode, but I believe it was something along those lines. Someone who's seen that episode more recently might correct me if I'm off). Basically, all that is explained in part two of the chapter, so you're already a bit ahead me haha.

well then, i stand corrected. That's a different dish.
Buddha's Delight is a pure vegetarian dish which is stir-fried mushrooms, fried tofu, wild plants and vegetables. It tastes exactly what you would expect from a dish of stir-fried mushrooms, fried tofu, wild plants & vegetables.
Nah, it’s alright. I was just letting you know.my bad then. should i delete my comment as it is a spoiler?
