Existential horror would be my response. But there is another possibility. Chloe may have been a famous historical figure; similar to Marie Antionette. The one that was beheaded during the French Revolution. I could see someone basing a game character off of a historical figure like that. Either way, it's a mystery for Chloe to solve. I'm intrigued.
What if Chloe is from a video game, but it's one that doesn't exist yet? A game that her company is going to make. And she can have an influence on the final product, and thus change what happened to her in her previous life inside the game. But if she succeeds in doing so and prevents her execution, then she'll have never been reborn, and met any of the people in her current modern life. That would be a fun dilemma.
I absolutely love it when Chloe freaks out and over-reacts. Her bursting into that meeting was superb. I'm really enjoying that ambiguity of how her boss feels about her. Does he have a romantic or physical attraction to Chloe (ugly bastard tag)? Or does he feel something more akin to friendship or a younger brother type? Maybe the boss had a friend or sibling that was ugly and got bullied.
The confusion and misunderstandings just keeps multiplying. The boss has no idea why Chloe is behaving the way she does. And Chloe has no idea why the boss is being kind to her. I hope we get some scenes with the female co-worker (whose name I've forgotten) soon. It feels like she's falling behind the boss, in terms of relationship building with Chloe. I strongly suspect that we'll eventually get the romance tag added at some point. The question is who Chloe ends up with.
