injuries aside , maybe it's a system where, "if you don't stay active/do quests every 3 months, you get demoted" or so but i imagine by the time you're a rank it shouldn't matter. but other than benefits versus demoted out of something disgraceful i imagine ppl wouldn't care

I've thought about this before, there are at least two ways you could rank adventurers:

1. By strength
2. By how reliable they are

And really there should be rankings for both but the second is more important from the perspective of a guild, especially if it does stuff like handle job offers.

Otherwise you could end up with a bunch of high-ranked adventurers who don't contribute that much to the guild.

This kinda fresh to me. Yeah, adventuring supposed to be fun, discover new things, enjoying the scenery, overcome the hardship on the dungeon, fighting boss together with trusted comrades. All this time, I may be blinded by most all of the mangas that focused on becoming adventurer for the sake of getting strong and recognized by those who looked down on the main character, gaining fame and aura farming. But deep down, I longing for pure feeling of the main character becoming adventurer for the sake of fun, becoming strong and rich can be achieved along the way.
