real life, work or its absence keep throwing spanners in our works and killing enthusiasm in our group.
As you can imagine, the recent pandemic developments aren't helping too.
We still don't have a translator and I fear our editing skills aren't exactly "the best disco in town".
I may have found a translator, though, and this is my best hope: still, there is some deal to conclude.

Yes, by creating a idealized, unrealistical and apparently retarded character I somehow doubt true South-eastern asian women would find very flattering.
If this is grilling then I'm a banana.
If you want to read a manga that deals with this set of problems* in a more realistical and mature way
I recommend Itoshi no Irene,
a much more satisfying read. I'm planning to scanlate it in the future.
(warning: ignore the embarassing Mangaupdates description)

Imo the mothers character is not unrealistic at all, in fact she reminded me a bit of my grandmother who also did rituals when I was sick as a child, such as placing a little bundle of hair mixed with salt in my belly button or burning grass (not sure what it was) to get rid of nightmares. From an outsiders point of view they’d ridicule such acts and label her stupid or crazy. Such problems seen in the manga is very real that happens to some, even the tail, and how they’re ridiculed and yet the response from the main characters, how they respond to such adversity is so mature and open minded. It questions the prejudices some have when faced with harmless differences, their fears when confronted by such. The manga is not perfect by all means but it’s still a good read..
