It really was kind of a dick move by Utsumi to not ever contact her again. He could have called her or wrote her a letter.

Thank you thank you thank you, to everyone in the group for bringing us this manga!
I love it so much!
As always the principal and other teachers are for the school's face, rather than protecting the student.
I'm kinda surprised they did a timeskip, but it's rather pleasant at least that we didn't have to see those brats again.
And that teacher! It's just a tail! There are people with a protruding tailbone irl and it's not weird at all.
Perhaps, like the translator said, the tail is just an allegory/placeholder metaphor for differences, but still. I don't see anything that out there with just a tail.
-
There's just one trope that I don't like, and that is the line "do you think it's contagious/do you think we can catch <insert anomaly here>". There's nothing contagious about a hereditary trait. You all have smart phones already, it's not the 18th century. Jeebus.

The pig tail is a metaphor for Burakumin caste Discrimination in Japan. Japan's own version of India's "Untouchables"
Double brownie points in that Burakumin were often butchers and slaughtered pigs, so having the boy have a pigtail really sells the symbolism and intent.

"Is it infectious" is in reference to the past custom where touching a Burakumin resulted in anyone not of that caste to purify themselves by ritual because of the religious taboo jobs the Burakumin did resulting in "filth".

@crazybars stop listening to western media lol. Burakamin are entitled people, they get so many breaks from government that people start to envy them, but they actually want to keep a status quo. There is no discrimination towards them in today's Japan as western media wants you to think. They just want to spin a topic just like how they did with the black beauty pageant winner.

Oh Really? If that was true and this is a NON-ISSUE, why does this manga which was published in 2018 highlighting this social issue in Japan exist then?

- If they want to keep the statues quo, why are there BURAKUMIN civil rights groups pushing for equal treatment in Japan? There's the Zenkairen and a Burakumin group similar to the black panthers, the Buraku Liberation League.

-Why are there discrimination reports and protests in Western Japan Osaka, Kyoto, Hyoho and Hiroshima prefectures to this very day?
(Most of japan is discrimination free, I will give you that. It's gotten much better)

--Why did Japan's Public Security Intelligence Agency publicly state Burakumin make up 54-58% of all Yakuza membership at any given time then?

--Why are two of the largest Yakuza groups based in cities in Western Japan's provinces where there's documented discrimination still occuring against Burakumin groups? Quite a coincidence that the two of the big four Yakuza groups's main recruitment bases are in 2 of the 4 mentioned regions.

Yamaguchi Gumi, which consists of at least 45-52% of all Yakuza is based in Kobe city, Hyogo, and Aizukotetsu-kai, the 4th largest Yakuza group is based in Kyoto.
----------------------------------------------------------
Why was there a highly documented political scandal revolving around Burakumin discrimination in 2001 exist then?

Nonaka Incident:

Search Burakumin in both links below.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tar%C5%8D_As%C5%8D
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burakumin#Yakuza_membership
---------------------

Since you proposed that Burakumin are no longer discriminated against, why don't you go hunt down the evidence on the Japenese world wide web that shows evidence the western prefecture regional discrimination and lingering Yakuza recruitment issues has been 100% solved and then I will believe you.

Because while my claim is backed by historical records, your claim is not, there's no actual records for what you just wrote.

@crazybars its the same reason why black Americans and native Americans think they have less privilege as whites and Asians. Even though they have plenty of groups defending it and plenty of historical record, you rarely hear of research and articles against it because it isn't popular and doesn't get published, same as Burakamin situation because nobody wants to be called racist or discriminator. Burakumin kids go to the same school and take the same test as normal kids. They have the same chance as everyone to getting in good universities. When they fail or score less, they just blame discrimination. This "secret book" of all Burakamin registers that are handed out to all companies and business to reject their application are total BS.
Since i have no historical records and claims of blacks having same privilege or more means i am wrong right? There are literally no articles countering the Burakumin in English because nobody wants to be criticize in Japan for that since the government is against it. You don't find that strange? There should always be two sides of the argument right, whether it is right or wrong. There's literally no counter publication in this case. What are they even fighting against? Are there articles and events held to discriminate Burakamin like there is against Koreans?

How the hell do you think being an SJW is wrong, it's the Ultra Left SJWs that are disgusting. I hate Feminazis, Reverse Racists and the Ultra Left, but Social Justice is not inherently bad bro.

Applying your hatred for Ultra left SJWs from America to foreign countries as though they're the same thing? How does that make sense?

Do you have a political agenda? Because even with my extreme hate of the Ultra Left, I don't understand what YOUR problem is with these SJWS from a FOREIGN COUNTRY. It's not even your business since you don't live there (Unless you're gonna claim that?)

I can only imagine he didn't contact her due to imagining she would be better off forgetting him as soon as possible. Considering the witch hunter mentality of the whole student population and the staff of the school, it might be difficult to be recognised as the girlfriend. Of course the dude must also simply be too disillusioned already as well, so he'd give up easily on everything.

@crazybars thanks for all the info! I pride myself on being aware of these issues, they're quite well known in fact. An award winning Korean novel called "Pachinko" illustrates, with no holds barred, the discrimination of Koreans who migrated to Japan during the wars, and this mindset lasted until the very 90s, early 2000s.
My hafu friend's white dad who spent some years in Japan during the 80s and 90s was turned away from all the apartments, and had to get a japanese friend to sign the lease in his place.
I do think it is a bit better now, but still, japan is still a very xenophobic and "conservative" place, all things considered. LGBT+ is treated like trash in japan and korea, even to this day.

A tail isn't really that big of a deal. Honestly nobody would give a fuck in reality.

I think in these situations you should fight to the bitter end, not because it will improve your situation, but to bring down those assholes with you, defacing them in all the interviews and showing how the teachers and the school are one of the cause of the problem. Running away means rewarding them for their shitty behaviour, giving them exactly what they wanted.
