Tbh, I thought he was referencing the backpack, because she's always leading the way in the panels, and it just a classic manga moment of miscommunication.
But... Y'know, I've totally done this sort of things with girls & guys, where I point out the embarrassingly obvious... on purpose, however!

Nevertheless, I almost forgot that Kya-san is supposed to be intelligible only 20% of the time! She was pretty comprehensible this chapter!
