Dawg, if you encounter an actual diety, and all they do is pull a silly prank on you, then you can't be anything but lucky.

That's just it, though, can you really tell whether someone's pulling a prank enough to go along with it and throw it back to them, knowing you won't get any consequences in the process? A lot of times, people don't see that, and a deity is powerful enough to turn any conversation their way no matter what may come. They could turn a very well-intended joke into a blasphemy against them and execute the 'offender' on the spot, just like what we saw being developed here.

So the MC's only choices here are either take whatever blows are thrown at him and be seen as pathetic, or literally risk his life to stand up for himself and go against a deity's wishes/desires. If he wasn't a friend of her daughter, he'd be screwed here.

If I was in his position, I'd certainly be 'lucky' because that deity, an object of worship, has the power to kill me on the spot, yet she doesn't bother because I still have some value to be played with. I'd hate to be serving under a deity like that.

Hey, I recognize this prank/con from one of the Ocean's movies (either Ocean's 12 or 13). It played out similarly and had the same purpose. Neat.

I double checked, and it was Ocean's 12.

Spoiler: Description of the prank

It was a prank they called "Lost in Translation". Danny and Rusty used it to get Linus out of the room so they could meet Matsui without him. It was still funny, even if Linus wasn't clued into the prank until much later.
