Happens to many series sadly, the setting is oft used to lure people in and then drop and forget the initial bait somewhere past the first chapter.

Yup. When that happens, I'm usually fine with it because the story is still interesting itself, but this series really isn't. It's reminiscent of 2000s shoujo. Her strong-willed personality kind of dropped off as well

Welcome back!! Thank you for the update! The other commenters said the gimmick's completely been thrown away and it's just a 2000's shoujo now (it's felt like that since chp 1 tbh lol) but imo that's what makes it feel great to read! It's very nostalgic from the artstyle to the plotline.
