Been reading a lot of comics that just give a gut punch after another. Certainly, this one will turn into a romcom now. Certainly.

Guess it really is the time to expand my reading catalog.

"Mother" and "Daddy". I understand that difference in wording all to well. Pretty easy to guess single father needed help, such child, went to the church, and that brick wall of the church, Mother stepped in. The kid likely escaped the church and is trying to find her Daddy.

Kind of want her dad to show up like Cable as a time traveler from the future to fight the church though.

uhhh... i think you're mixing with something else
"daddy" is clearly an antagonist, maybe even the church's "god".
also, you can dream of the romcom or whatever, but it's only starting to "spiral" down from there iirc...
