The story would probably be less popular that ways.
But i do agree with you that it causes abit of narrative dissonance.

So there's actually a story reason for why he's called that, though it's not revealed till literally the last like 2 chapters of the entire story.... I could spoil it down below but I'll refrain cuz it would be a pretty dick move and also require so much context.

But yea, as weird as it sounds, his "ugliness" is actually a bit of foreshadowing/story relevant
