Forgot I had to upload this... This is what the postcard looks like, if you're curious. I don't have a scanner at hand.

So, see you in volume 2, in a while. Next chapter is also set in America, and takes place during the 'Bedford Record Market' (or BRM), which they say is the biggest record event in all of America. A huge a flea market, and also auctions... though no such event exists in real life, I think... I wonder if it's based on the Brimfield Flea Market or something, apparently that's "the biggest" antique flea market in America? I really don't know, but look forward to it. There's some great stories too.

"A Long Vacation" - hooray! I heard the end credits on the Kakushigoto anime and promptly put that album on my Discogs wantlist. Never seen a copy in person, but someday I will break down and get one online.

I think the annual Austin (Texas) Record Convention is regarded as the biggest record swap meet in the US - next one is coming up October 18-20 this year. I've been to a few of the local swaps in my smallish Midwestern city, and it's an interesting experience, and not for the faint of heart. (Hold on to your wallet.) With the rise of Discogs, and the availability of eBay and some other sites, it's easier to find uncommon records (though not necessarily the really rare, one-of-five-copies-in-existence stuff - that's still largely a matter of luck), but it can be fun doing it the old fashioned way as well. Anytime I travel I try to make time to visit local record shops.

Thanks for bringing this series to us, and for working to make the endnotes so thorough! :hearts:

Great work on this! Thanks for all the great translation notes and commentary as well :)

I'll fill out the survey here because I don't have a good way to send things to Japan lol.

1. My favorite album is probably Finally We Are No One by mum, an Icelantic group that I think you could probably call "folktronica" or something like that. It feels at once very small and intimate but also sometimes transcendentally soaring and complex. It reliably centers me and destresses me, even in the most painful situations.
2. There's a lot of good record stores in Toronto, I feel very blessed. My favorite is probably Sonic Boom just cause they have a huge selection and a lot of pretty weird stuff. There's also a store that inexplicably has a huge selection of Japanese jazz which is pretty interesting to look at, the Cops records on Queen West.
3. My favorite was probably the Staggs Invasion chapter. I thought the setting was captured well with a really endearing story.
4. This is a really lovely series that operates in one of my favorite modes of manga... intensely passionate and knowledgeable about some subject, but always placing that expertise within very human, emotionally resonant stories. I'm impressed with how much the setting jumps around to capture different aspects of music culture throughout history and around the world. So excited for volume 2!

Your translation notes are great, and the time-traversing nature of these one-shot stories give off wonderful vibes too. Never had the money to buy physical albums, and then I became a cheap person who only listens to music via streaming platforms, so it's really interesting to see music from another's perspective.
