Actually this is the first time I opened a chapter from this manga so...

The theme of the series is that page 1 is 'seemingly' normal but with a detail that once you noticed you'll realized it's not.
Page 2 is the blatant hint/reveal.

Alas since people's genre savviness has gone up with time a lot of people have been able to guess the twist 'too easily' or some people dislike the 2nd page reveal.

Thanks for picking this up! :)

Again, how does one recognize gender from an ear?

Given japan/some asian gender roles i wouldn't be surprised if some mangaka unconsciously draw ppl's body parts more 'masculine' or feminine depending. If not like "Wow your hands are so petite and girly for a man" and such but it's just the cliche "they're the killer" or so

You can't tell gender from an ear alone! There's piercings, and while atm it's more common for women than men to have ear piercings, the piercing and gender really isn't the detail you'd focus on when you find a dismembered ear at random.

For anyone confused: the little girl knew the ear was a woman's because she was the killer.

Nice to see this series again! I remember a lot of people were super salty because they focused on the "horror" tag, but this is just an illustrated version of cryptic stories that are fairly popular online in Japan. They're usually just text, and having them illustrated actually makes it a bit easier to figure some out. Hope someone picks up the series for real, I'm always eager for more cryptic stories like this!
