Unlikely to happen. First, even if Miyu pulled that stupid stunt she'd usually have to grab the girl's leg with her arm somewhat stretched out, so the face would be outside of kick-range. Then Miyu would have had to have held onto the leg for several kicks to look even close to that. Third, while the swimmer was in survival mode and thus able to utilize more force than usual, she was still a small girl and the water resistance would have lessened the power.

"Child kicked to death at pool, majority blame ghosts"

I hope that one of these chapters will be a fuckin banger that just comes out of nowhere, considering the garbage the majority of have been.

So many complaints each release (myself included), but what if a there is another good chapter in the works

I know it's going to be bad, but what if it not?🤔

I did like the ghost picture one with the abusive parents. It was at the same time kinda funny and absolutely disgusting.

True, water resistance makes impact 1/8 of the actual power. Which makes Sharks truly powerful underwater and very unadvisable to kick or even punch the eyes of a shark.

I wasn't saying that one shouldn't try everything in their power to get free when drowning (hell, kicking back at something dragging you down is pure instinct, I don't blame the swimmer one bit), I was implying that Miyu was unlikely to look like she'd been stuffed inside a punching bag for a day after two or three kicks by a girl underwater.

My only complaint is that this is Seinen, yet still feels the need to devote a page explaining this shit. If this was aimed at kids it'd be more understandable, though still kinda frustrating.
As it stands, the experience is improved by just never reading the second pages.

I will choose to believe this is the tragic origin story of someone discovering their super power and will use this moment to motivate them into using it only for good.

I like this one. If you take the girl's words purely at their face value, her friend died of a ghost, but if you are observing the art it's more obvious she (unintentionally) killed her friend. This one feels like a decent twist even if it's obvious.
I think these are for kids (like it's "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" or "Goosebumps"), so we're probably expecting too much from the twists.

I do think the second pages are too on the nose though. They should be a little more ambiguous.
Like if it said:
"The girl was lucky to get kick hard enough to get away from the spirit"
"It was ruled that Miyu died from blunt force trauma to the head, just what happened?"

This gives us obvious bread crumbs, but doesn't OUTRIGHT spell it out for us.

But despite all the complaints, mine included in each chapter, there is something about these that is just plain dumb fun.

I actually like these. They're most likely based off of cryptic stories/riddles that circulate on the Japanese web, short little stories where there's a little twist at the end that's only noticeable if you pay attention. Things like seeing a murder from your apartment and not realizing the murderer is counting windows to find your apartment. Or editing a "ghost photo" with you and all your friends as a prank without realizing there shouldn't have been anyone around to take that photo.

They're not always giant shockers or super horrifying, nor do they have to make strictly logical sense, like this one where the narrator doesn't realize she killed her classmate. Some of them can even be funny or silly. The main thing is they're all just a little off. You can find a bunch on the "Saya in Underworld" blog.

I also like that this includes the explanation pages because while some cryptic stories are obvious, in my experience, some really aren't. I've seen a few translated where people are just kinda guessing but no one's 100% sure, not even the translator. So I support having that extra page just on principle.

I Agree, It's literally the manga equivalent of watching indie horror shorts. Most of them aren't horrifying but they're casual fun but sometimes you get a pretty good one (like the disfigured abused child).

pro tip, you can further improve the experience by not reading the first page either

I think I have another theory.

My theory is that her classmate was actually being dragged by the spirit to the afterlife, and that the 4th panel was saying the truth.
If we go by that theory:
Miyu (the classmate) was being dragged down by the spirit and was desperately trying to hold onto anything she could (and thus the leg of the Mc (unnamed Main character) that just happened to be close) in an attempt to get out of the water or at least resist being dragged down.

First, even if Miyu pulled that stupid stunt she'd usually have to grab the girl's leg with her arm somewhat stretched out, so the face would be outside of kick-range
->she had her face in the hitting range of the Mc's other leg because she was trying to go up, and not drag the Mc down or pull a prank.

Then Miyu would have had to have held onto the leg for several kicks to look even close to that
-> if Miyu was getting dragged down by the spirit, then she would be in survival mode too, and would be desperately trying to hold onto the Mc's leg in an attempt to survive, despite the Mc's serious resistance.

Third, while the swimmer was in survival mode and thus able to utilize more force than usual, she was still a small girl and the water resistance would have lessened the power.
-> lessened power is still power + they were kicks, not punches, legs have way more power + they were all headkicks.
Now with my theory, what killed Miyu would not be the damage she took from the Mc, but the spirit.
However, the damages of that struggle would still be visible on the corpse afterwards.

Thanks to both girls being in survival mode, both fought for their lives, but in the end, Miyu lost her grip on the Mc's leg due to heavy resistance and would be dragged to the afterlife by the spirit.

Personally, I think this theory fits well with everything.
