Anyone else surprisingly ok with horror films? I can usually anticipate the jump-scares and the volume isn't too loud when I watch them
Cure is his all-time favorite too, we watched Chime, Kiyoshi Kurosawa's latest a few days ago. it was really unsettling, would recommend!Favorite JP horror/suspense flicks?

Mmm...nice taste. The thing I like about western horrors is that they're masters at establishing the setting. Normal movies fill their cities and towns with people, but the horrors make them empty, cold and eerie. Monster movies...yeah. I think they're supposed to be a metaphor for natural disasters. They're okay I guess.Horror films are fun, i like body horror films the most, Cronenberg sir and Jr, John Carpenter, and David Lynch are my jam
And i have a deep love/hate relationship with monster films, i love monsters, the weirder the better, but i hate how most horror monster films, just refuse to show the damn monster, it is super frustrating
You know, I can credit comedy horrors to sort of ease me into proper horror movies. I watched "Scary Movie" before "Scream" for example and it helped me prepare for the jumpscares and Ghostface chasing everyone downI don't usually watch horror movies on my own unless I hear they're really good, but watching one with friends and banter is one of life's great pleasures. And I really appreciate horror movies that combine genres, like Nobuhiko Obayashi's House. Even Cocaine Bear was fun w friends, lmao
Sounds like your BF enhances your life by putting you out there and enjoying all sorts of activities, and also enables you to find new interests at the same time. That's really nice tbqhi wasn't a big horror fan originally, i had only really seen the classics - the shining and the exorcist and such. but since i started dating my bf who's a huge horror buff i've started to appreciate a lot of subgenres a lot more.

another jp horror he showed me that i really loved was Kwaidan, really uniquely spooky movie~
No kidding. The Big Boss was my first Bruce Lee movie and I watched it with my dad way back when I was a kid. It's one of the first movies I remember watching as it was in my native language and I didn't speak english at the time. The dudes in the ice was one thing, but the scene with the boobies? Core memory yet againJesus ahahahah I haven't laughed this hard in a while at that ending thinking back to the chapter with scary stories, Miyamoto was shaking all alone in the monitor room yet trying to laugh it off to himself
Horror movies do nothing for me after a childhood mostly filled with horror books; plus, my dad thought it will be a swell idea to show a tiny me The Big Boss with Bruce Lee and the ice block scene did things to me. Horror grounded in reality is very scary :<
There's a really good videogame World of Horror, whether you like retro games aesthetic, lovecraftian horror or urban myths - it's gonna hit all three of those boxes
I don't scare easily when it comes to films, but the only horror subgenre I take active initiative to watch is folk horror. It's interesting seeing how cultural elements manifest in various countries'takes on the genre.Favorite JP horror/suspense flicks?
