nice to see Ida hit the nail right on the head: Harald fostering peace for Elbaf is fantastic but fully casting aside your pride for it is how you get that exact situation of Imu getting ready to possess Harald. Going to miss Ida plenty after this flashback, strength like hers is always a joy to read through

Harald played things pretty dumb but I do hope Loki gets some good licks in for his sake as much as I hope he does for Rocks' sake lol

I feel like a "Surprised Pikachu" would be appropriate for Harald...

However I really feel bad for Loki... Couldn't even have the chance to see Ida before she passed, nor could he mourn for her beside her bedside.

"That is for Mu to decide"? A typo or does Imu refer to themselves as Mu? Mu translates to Nothingness so maybe relevant.

Running consistent theme is that One Piece villains never kept their promise (Don Krieg, Arlong, Crocodile, Spandam, Doflamingo, Big Mom, Orochi, Imu).

Stupid Harald, idiot didn't realize it was his people's warrior strength that kept Elbaph safe all this time. By seeking this radical change it left his people open to enslavement. Now they must pay the price for Their leaders poor choice.

As the old saying goes "The road too hell is paved with good intentions".

RIP Ida :meguuusad: another non-D going out with a smile

and now back to the start of flashback. Harald had best intentions, but just like Roger, he was too early. as long as Imu ruling, his dream would never had been fulfilled

This is because of the Japanese language, not a characteristic of Imu himself. I don’t know exactly how this works in Japanese. I don’t know whether referring to oneself in the third person used to be more common in the past or not, or if there is some other rule. But in some cases Japanese people do refer to themselves in the third person. Nowadays you often see this happening with children. Sometimes we also see teenage girls referring to themselves in the third person specifically to give off an air of innocence or even childishness.

In Imu’s case, my guess is that he refers to himself in the third person to give the impression that he is using an archaic accent, since he is immortal and must be zillions of years old. But I am not sure.

Honestly I don't really like Harald. Yeah, he had good intentions but he's very naive. He's supposed to live since centurys so how can you be this easy to manipulate? He's been warned multiple times so yeah, he had it coming.
