I keep finding new bits, like throwing and catching the weapon, or unlatching the mantle to help form the crossbow.

In retrospect, it's quite amazing how she managed to master the design and physics of a crossbow to form it mid-combat. A bow is already hard, but this is a weapon with held tension.

I didn't put the eclipse and Hinako's shadow together myself untill rereading this chapter

I honestly want to know what's up with her being human sized during the flashback to her training.

Do you mean on page 29? All of the characters shown on that page are Elis' various teachers. The archer is an elf; she says she's a dropout compared to "other elves".
Ok, yeah that makes sense. That's what I get for reading and commenting while half asleep.
Still kinda weird that they're talking inside though. I'll just say "window" and leave it at that though.

Some of those pages got me thinking that:
wish more people would be more respectful of the different cultural rules/manners of a place one visits. Instead of coming off as possibly rude or insulting or arrogant.
(For Arrogant, could be seen as thinking your culture is best interpreted through person offensive manners even if one did not intend to give off this vibe)

I think this manga might be a hidden masterpiece that probably won't get the attention needed for the author to fully draw out the world and story. There's a lot here about polite society that I feel is probably informed by the author's personal experiences in some ways (hopefully not the sex trafficking) and while not entirely original, this version of the isekai world is at least more interesting than most.

I can confirm that skewering someone with a living tree is not a polite way to decline their invitation to dance

I generally hate long, frenzied battle scenes, but this was brilliant, some of the best combat choreography I've ever seen in comics. Loved the contrast between panels/pages of noisy, cluttered carnage and moments of perfect freeze-frame stillness (the fist and cuckoo clock sequence could almost be a Frank Quitely page). Look forward to rereading this chapter once the brain rot erodes it.
