This is refreshing. There aren't many GB where the MC still needs to struggle just to reach the starting line. The MC realized that it wasn't enough to adapt to his new body; he needed to continue to adapt to achieve his goals.

Well, I had to go find it all elsewhere, but this manhwa rules. It's very well written and probably going to be a new obsession of mine.

Solid story so far.

Basically dude is a guy who worked really hard wanting to be a idol. However due to having a controversial event in his past(dirt on him) and due to not having a good enough appearance, he is unable to secure a spot despite his exceptionally developed dance skills.

He then is given a opportunity via a special medicine/bath bomb that can turn him into who he was in a past life. Supplied to him by a new subsidiary of a popular idol company, who is willing to give him a chance with a new identity(that was not tainted by the past event).

It works out in that he becomes a knockout beauty, but has a setback in that this body does not have the same levels of talent or conditioning. Requiring him her to effectively relearn from the ground up.

This change also can be reversed with a different bath bomb, which leads to a dual identity.

This story engages with the genderswap in a well reasoned way. The difference matters, but it's not a caricature or fanservice.

For those who engage with genderswap stories for representation or self insert/fantasy: I am sure you will have rose colored interpretations, but I don't think the story this far in is really like that(cough no eggs).

But you still will probably enjoy this significantly.

For those avoiding on the nose stories the above seek, this does not appear to be that kind so far, so you also will probably enjoy.

This is just a story about someone who is so devoted to their dream of being a star, they are even willing to change everything about themself they need to accomplish it. To even abandon who they once were.

Honestly I really like this manwha. Its got a solid plot and a decent mc. I really hope it doesn't turn Yuri but I wouldn't mind if it did.

So, I'm not suggesting anyone needs to come to it for that, but I would argue that his becoming a woman being handled thoughtfully and not being done as a caricature or used for fan service makes it more relevant for eggs, not less. There's a surprisingly small number of these things written that way.

Though, I'm just surprised to find myself invested in an idol story. The hidden identity aspect definitely helps a lot, but I'm reading more at this point just to see how his career progresses and what eventually goes on between him and Lee Ruha than anything else.

I don't think that is the case, though the point you are trying to make can be. Namely that well written stories can be more impactful. Stories like Ore Ga Watashi ni Nara made. Or Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to, in a more comedic way. Put another way, well written movies with romance(perhaps not even as the main plot) can be more impactful or resonate more deeply than Hallmark cheap sappy romance.

My main point was just there are stories of varying quality that may have that underlying theme(those I listed do seem to have it). This does not seem one of them.

There is a difference between how a story is written and meant to be understood. And how people will self impose their own views/meaning.

Good example being Frodo and Sam in Lord of the Rings. 100% not meant to be romantic in any sense, not from Tolkien nor movie producers. Some will seriously look at it in that way.

Stories like this definitely can take you by surprise. I am not big into the idol genre, but have had a small handful that get me invested. I have read enough of various genres to be surprised like this that I don't discount any series just because it is a certain genre or theme.

I do wonder if eventually the lead will be stuck girlmoding most/all of the time, either due to Commitments of the idol life, or side-effects of the medicine.

Also, I want my genderswap yuri goddamn it.

I need more chapters
I need read the drama of them finding out about the genderswap XD

I would like more if he could switch freely between forms, like stage persona and real self.
In this sense, he is more lucky, since he can change into random (unrelated) guy when not being in idol mode XD

Cannot wait for new chapters

Chapter 39 has finally shown me why everyone’s keeps calling Yoil extremely beautiful. I guess it helps that she actually put some effort into her appearance. But now she’s giving off the super duper pretty vibes. Before she was just sort of pretty mc to me. That last shot was super cool and cute.

Cigarettes? Why would it smell like cigarettes? I love how Han Yoil decides that it’s not being recognized as a specific person that she wanted. But rather the feeling of performing for others. At least that’s what I thought she meant. Or maybe it was that it doesn’t matter what she looks like if she can be inspiring to others.
