I don't really like how this is panning out. He's essentially being groomed by his father, the village, and all the girls to be somebody he never wanted to be and do something he never wanted to do and now that it's affecting him and he's talking about how this is affecting him and how he doesn't like it and still doesn't want it the girls are just like "lol just accept it."

Granted, he's been a bit retarded since the beginning, but that doesn't suddenly make what has been happening to him alright.

@Tamerlane I don't like the idea of being obligated to father tons of children with women your parents arranged for you regardless of your feelings on the matter, and I don't find accepting that obligation to be at all "coming of age" or anything halfway decent. In fact, I don't find this to be an obligation. He may be under circumstances he cannot control, but if he wants to piss off and be a hermit in the mountains and never speak to any of these women again he is not violating any obligation whatsoever. He is not bound by any contract or duty to fuck these girls.

Obvious, modern times has granted us the luxury to choose whom we marry, but historically that has not really been the case, and still isn't for a lot of places.

However, if making an argument about what will be done for the greater good, or if there are certain unspoken social obligations, then I definitely think one can make the argument that he has some unwritten duty, even if it is thrust upon him without his consent, to make sure that he sees it through.

(Note that I don't necessarily agree with the idea of arranged marriage as much as I am playing Devil's Advocate, and I think you could justify the situation as he's the only one able to successfully make more children so the rest of the village, and so abandoning the village could be akin to allowing them to slowly wither out and die by negligence.)

In my opinion this guy should just fap enough to fill a couple or more cups of his stuff and have the girls get inseminated in some hospital. That way every girl gets his seed and he doesnt have to involve himself with them, and that way as well he can get back to the human world although there the human girls will still continue saying he stinks but since he doesnt want anything to do with the youkai girls then he has to suck it up.

So, if he goes back to the human world, it's basically become gay or a hermit, since women will likely continue to find he stinks as long as he lives. On the other hand, in the village he can have all the sex he may ever want, with adoring cute girls that throw themselves at him at every chance. Sorry but I don't get what problem he has with choosing, I know there are herbivore males but come on.

Perhaps there's some drawback I'm overlooking... Perhaps he's afraid he'll get a village-worth of nagging wives? Or that he'll be stuck doing all the small jobs in every one of his wives' houses?

@Aleph0 it was mentioned this chapter actually. It's the shoujo manga. The fixation on a fairytale-esque princess/prince charming story, and the forceful pragmatism and self-knowledge bullshit he suddenly doesn't know what to do with clash, leaving him emotionally paralyzed. Don't expect that to get resolved anytime soon either since our mind-reading loli just threw in a new wrinkle: instead of being required to bang every woman in the village, you're allowed to choose just ONE. Frankly, it took 21 chapters to even approach what many would consider the starting line.

@Tamerlane I categorically reject the notion that he is obligated to fuck them just because they can't have kids with most people. Even if he's the only person in the world, if he doesn't want to do it, it's not his problem. I especially don't like how they're saying "Nobody will like you except us, if you leave you'll just be a complete and total loser, your life without us is pointless" card, even if it's true that women find him smelly that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile, it's just a more difficult life of celibacy.

If they want to woo him, fine, but the way they're going about it is underhanded and manipulative.

To be honest, if I were him one of my strongest motivations for refusing would be just that his dad is such a prick that it would grate me forever to let his stupid fucking manipulative plans work. Maybe if I cut a deal with the village elders: Throw him out of town without a cent and don't let him back in, and I'll do it.
