Is the Onihei anime inspired by this manga?

I checked the wiki and Onihei was originally a long running series of novels, and the author left a will requesting adaptations of his novels to only feature stories originally written by him. The manga, TV, theater adaptations etc mostly respected this will which is pretty cool.
