I wonder how the series will get out of that if it goes for Mahiro not returning.
Realistically, Mihari or her mom can say she either wanted to stop being a guy or got into a weird accident overseas and becoming a girl was the only option.

Both are probably more down to earth than a magical potion capable of turning an old guy into a young girl if you ask me.

That doesn't resolve the problem of Mahiro not legally existing which is why Mihari's telling him not to go to the hospital and why he can't get an ID (Neko has forgotten they already went to the hospital in chapter 8).

The original JP text is "Make sure you don't wind up with any major injuries or illnesses...!" with the implication that if he needed any serious medical attention things would go bad. In Ch8 they did a simple check-up which I assume didn't need any form of identification or insurance. I've adjusted the TL to match, I thought "wind up in the hospital" would be clear enough and read smoother but you're right that it could potentially make Neko look like he forgot that they went to a doctor already.

Thank you for the explanation, and yup — I can see value in it both ways. The American in me associates unexpectedly going to the hospital with "things have gone so horribly awry that it's worth risking bankruptcy", but I gather in Japan they still have the old-fashioned idea that hospitals can offer people a place to recover from things that aren't catastrophic.

Starting to think Neko's real identity is Ditama Bow (Mahoromatic, KissXSis, etc). He went a bit overboard on the pee fetish with Peekuni in KissXSis.
:shamihuh:
That reminds me, I've had Kiss X Sis on my plan to watch list for as long as I can remember but never got around to it. I should check that out at some point

I'm a big believer in "to each their own"… if it's in your zone, I did crack a few jokes that once Mikuni really got on the stage (it took a while), it could be renamed PissXSis.
(y)

(But fair warning, I'm talking about the manga… I didn't know there was an anime, and can't guess whether they were willing to include it without toning it down. Or possibly "at all".)
