I can almost see the image in my head of the author drawing the last chapter, getting frustrated, then throwing it in the garbage and going,

"nah fuck it, I'll just do any old shit. Torago's son and Maname, That's the ticket. As for Torago, the closest thing to a protagonist in the story? Bay of.... Kishu."

Refuses to elaborate
???
Profit

But hey, it was a fun adventure while it lasted.

Thanks for the chapter. Thanks for all the hard work bringing the series to us. Thanks for giving your thoughts when you did. To me, I thought this had tons of flawed characters and that made it fun but at the same time it did nothing to really stand out from other manga. The end is a kick in the nuts but they didn’t want to play it safe. I would definitely read something else by this mangaka so if you decide to do that I’ll be there !

This ending is placed somewhere "deranged" and "retarded": the long chain of completely random and inexplicable events portrayed here clashes harshly with the more "realistic" tone the manga tried to keep up to before the last volume. The only way to botch it worse would require something like Maname beeing an alien from outer space, or she was an Isekaied hero...

Thanks for scanlating through to the end. You did good work.

That ending is some BS, I won't lie, but whatever

I wish I had the skills to survive 5 years on a volcanic island alone (assuming everybody on the beach died on that same day).

It was an interesting series for sure, I'm glad to discover this mangaka and her style is quite nice (both visual and narrative). Wonder what's the true meaning of the title though... the island is "demon island" but what's a "demon bug"? Oh well.

Also I wonder if this island is real? I mean they did mention Okinoshima in the manga (which is real) so maybe...

Oh, also seems like the author didn't include her sketches at the end of every volume, only 2...kinda sad
P.S. May scanlator be in good health :salute:

Hey guys, I found an island that's eerily similar to what the author drew. It's called Aogashima 青ヶ島.

Edit: I've confirmed and it is indeed the inspiration for the author, according to the Japanese Wikipedia page of the island.
There seems to also be a theory that the original name of the island is Onigashima (island of the Oni/demons), and that it was visited by a legendary figure from a story -Minamoto no Tametomo.
The first records of the island are from the 15th century, being mostly rumors. The official finding is closer to the 16th or 17th century
