I've read a good number of chapters now. I'm going to say that it reminds me so much of LetMeSoloHer. I even think LMSH might have been inspired by this guy, lol.
Also the art style is so very great, I gotta hand it, haven't had a good art style manga for a while, but for the story, gotta say it's a typical power fantasy vrmmo style, I guess, if I were to put it in, SLF should be in the same category as a certain middle age man vrmmo or blade skill online which main focuses were 'power fantasy story-telling vrmmo' category, what those have in common that they focus on fighting and ability, while having little to middle explanation or interaction of the game system as whole, unlike OSO that focuses on the system of sense, skills and traits combination, character's build, party setup, material gathering etc.

For example, the fighting scene, OSO relies heavily on players' senses and the combination of their build and how to counter the opponent's build, while SLF, a certain middle-aged man, destiny unchained, and the like are focused on player's innate fighting ability, either it from their real life or another game, etc. more than the game mechanic itself, which is why for me, I don't think OSO and SLF is the same category, sure they're based on vrmmo genre, but in the different story style completely, SLF is a good read for me too, but since I've fed up power fantasy type, I prefer light-heart or slice of life more, so no.1 for me in vrmmo genre is still OSO
Idk, SLF feels different than how you describe to me. Like yeah a good chunk of why he's so good is because of his skills built from other games, but it's also how he makes the most of the game mechanics. Like how he handles some scorpion mobs with armor to hard for him to damage is done by him exploiting both their AI and an item he realizes has some niche applications if he uses it right. It's not just his skills that make his feats possible, it's the out of the box thinking that allows him to make the most of the game's mechanics, like playing the game's ai against itself and doing stuff like taking calculated risks to get the most out of buffs that have certain requirements to use. Another comparable person in real life (if you know him) is Smallant, sure he has the skills needed to excel at most games, but it's also the way he thinks and learns the system that makes him good. Whereas most power fantasies operate off of the MC being godly right out of the gate without much effort or stumbling into broken thing after broken thing (something that annoyed me in " a certain middle age man vrmmo",) Sunraku generally had to work to get what he wants, even getting punished here and there for his cockiness (I always love it when characters like Sunraku get punished for their hubris.)

tbh, that what mc should be, just that manga/novel nowadays tends to skip it (I mean if mc is op without reason that would be weird, and I would stop reading it), what I like about SLF the fact that he often going between game to show how he train before to reach this point, that what's other manga/novel hardly see. in other words, what you mention above is what the uniqueness of this manga itself, if not for them this manga would be no different than other

and I respect it too, these unique scenes where mc goes to other games or reminisces his memories of those shitty games are greatly define the character of mc. which explains a lot of his character, and the reader won't feel awkward because of his somewhat weird action, and I guess a certain middle-aged man won't suit well since that manga didn't convey much about mc growing in the early stage, SLF is more similar to Destiny Unchained than maybe

and since this form is going to be too large with our arguing comment, I will stop it here, let's have a conversation again in the forum of the next chapter~

Always good to have a debate where both sides respect the others opinions, we may not agree on all aspects, but I definitely think your views are valid, and it seems you feel the same. Looking forward to further conversations 👍

OSO and SLF are the top two for me, pretty different from each other and both MCs are very different but both series are really just about having fun playing a game.

Its nice that neither has some huge stake or death game.
to me OSO feels similar to another series Toaru Ossan VRMMO (The Diary of oldman's VRMMO adventure). Too bad the manga is on hold or axed or TLs drop it but it share similar premises with solo gamer with 'useless'/'trash' skills like Bow, Kicking, Wind magic, Cooking and Potion Making/Alchemy with slow life living.

The story too shine a focus on the NPCs powered by experimental AIs the first AI (Fairy Queen) they implement seems to be developing in such positive ways after interacting with MC that the devs used him as guinea pig took a liking and send more and more of them to MC's way.

I think FLFO does this the best. Quite often those chapters or bits are just boring with characters no one care about, but that story manages to make them funny and/or interesting. Well, more than others, at least.

  • verification team
This one's a bit weird to me, since normally you'd have a forum section for that, with a some regulars, but no team as such.

  • easily acquaintances with top player/big shot/idol/important figure
This is in 90% of stories, period.

  • very fast get/acquire/learn the unique skill/hidden potential of the skill/info
Unique skills is one of the biggest signs of not being an actual game. Great for stories; makes no sense for real games.

  • use/play/activate the skill/mechanic/ability/item in a different way that causes an uproar
This one's so often forced, since with a sufficiently large player base, those would've been explored. Like Eagle Eye with ranged weapons. It'd have to be a combination or usage that doesn't make logical sense for it to work.
