How nice of the vampires to greet the demi god that just vowed to hunt them down.

8 vampires huh, I wonder if the story will actually hold on to "kill all vampires" or if some of them will become friends somehow.
I came here to say -- if the story will actually betray that emotion, to "kill all vampires", this manga goes to the trashbin.
I'm not expecting Wuxia levels of hatred, revenge-porn plot, but this chapter illustrated well enough that vampires are what D&D calls "Evil". Objective, down-to-the-DNA evil.

Doing anything other than killing them off would be an unnecessary twist. MC doesn't need a vampire sidekick / friend, she needs a reason to channel her power somewhere.
Currently, the story is nothing but the idea of having a strong MC, but it's mostly just teenaged-yuri and constant scenes of: "my daddy and mommy loves me!"

Pretty sure that’s gonna be a no as quite literally it was stated the souls the vampires eat can NEVER reincarnate unless the vampire that ate them dies.

Susie will free the huge amount of souls the vampires have in them out of sheer pity for the souls freedom themselves (especially because she is a reincarnated person herself).

9.2 ends with her adoptive father telling her to go fetch her swords, adaptation skipped everything between that and testing the swords.

According to a comment in the previous page, seems like the source materials is also very fond of fast-forwading.
I see, that makes sense, thank you!

This reminds me a bit of Frieren, hopefully there will be no mercy because they look like human, they're clearly the enemy and instead of being part of the circle of life, they're more like a cancer or virus.
Except that messenger vampire woman, she's clearly the only good:meguusmug: one and she MUST join the mc party, trust me guys I know

The silly names people come up with to not get sued by the Tolkien estate.
I rather like 'grassfoot', though it could just as easily be applied to a number of the neo-hippies I went to college with 25 years ago....

The saying in the sword is an engraving in a famous spanish rapier from the seventeenth century. "No me saques sin razón, no me envaines sin honor". Do not draw me without reason, do not sheathe me without honor.
afaik that saying was on Giovanni delle Bande Nere's sword, and he's like 300 years before Luis Peralta?

Non mi Snudare senza ragione,
Non m’impugnare senza valore

Vampires actually live in castles like they're dracula? Ok, someone put together a map of vampire castles and give it to our mountain destroying MC. That'll be a pretty good start to exterminating them.

Wow, that escalated quickly. Getting killed by a vampire is a fate far worse then death. Your soul is imprisoned within their body. The question is, does your soul eventually get fully digested? We learned that Lavie's soul and astral body were too badly damaged to be brought back to life. Have she further degraded in the belly of that kid vampire? Incredibly dark stuff.

It looks like there are eight of these vampire kids in total. Suzie is powerful. But the fact that so many of them are coming is a huge problem. I worry that despite her best efforts, people are still going to die. Unless she has shadow clone jutsu, she can't be everywhere at once. And I'm worried that the rest of the characters aren't going to be powerful enough to survive.

I see this going in one of three possible directions.

A. Things see hopeless, until a new character is introduced to save everyone at the last moment. Suzie and everyone realize they need to get stronger.

B. Suzie is able to save most of the town, but not everyone. The author kills one of the main characters. Suzie and everyone realize they need to get stronger.

C. The cliche power of "yamero!"; Japanese for "stop it". It happens in numerous manga and anime where the way overpowered villain is torturing and toying with the hero's loved ones. Then they shout yamero, and the author just gives them a totally unearned massive power upgrade or cheat ability out of nowhere, and everyone is saved. I don't want any of the main characters to die, but I also don't want cliche tired tropes either.

D. No main characters die. No bullshit powerups out of nowhere. No rescue from random new characters. Instead, the main characters and friends are in a real pinch. They have to think creatively and dig deep to outsmart the villains, and work together to overcome them. This takes a high level of writing skill to pull off, and is rarely seen for this reason. This one is the least likely to happen; but also the one I want the most.

Edit: Upon further reflection, the author is already telegraphing what will happen in this chapter. Option E. They'll kill off a main character. But this guy will then resurrect them. That way the author can give all of the characters, including Suzie, the "wake up call" that they all need to get stronger to protect their loved ones. And also not lose any main characters. Have your cake and eat it too.

Depends on if those vampires have the souls of people in their bellies. Any such vampire needs to die, in order to free them. If vampires need to feed on people's souls to continue living, then all vampires must die. The only way their can be an exception is if vampires can survive without eating people. Then you could potentially have a good vampire.

This manga is literally everything and kind of nothing
It keeps casually dropping major story elements in a shallow way. In this chapter, dude reveals that he was researching how to bring the dead back to life, but failed to do so when Lavie died. I would have liked to have a longer discussion about that and his thoughts and feelings. But it's immediately onto the next revelation, which is that vampires eat and imprison souls into their bodies. Then before we can discuss that fully, we find out the vampires are going to attack the town. There's very interesting concepts here, but none are given the weight and time to develop.

feels like missing chapter in between this and last. parents gifted swords, now shes in completely different outfit, location, people :notlikethis:
I wonder if it's the light novel author going for any% speedrun, or just the manga adaptation skipping over stuff?
