I know people have been petitioning mangadex to at least add a “transgender” tag for years but its apparently fallen on deaf ears the whole time. Seems they’re just not interested, which is a huge shame and pretty annoying.

yeah outside of "boys love/girls love" we don't really have any proper "lgbt" tag, it's also a minor thing but i think there are a few manga where there are asexual charas and that's not tagged too

At the very least, i've seen ppl banned for transphobic comments, so hopefully finally adding a tag wouldn't paint a target on the genre to just leave non constructive insults

The page about coming out was very illuminating as someone who doesn't really know any transgender people. I can imagine how intense it must feel to come out to someone very close to you who you don't want your relationship with to sour or drastically change. Thanks for the chapter!

I hated having to do all that medical footwork when I had a surgery. I bet it wasn't the doctor doing the surgery who needed that info, it was the anesthesiologist, which is why that information issue came up even though they had already spoken to the doctor.

It's probably because the word transgender is used as an umbrella term for a broad range of topics. It would be such a vague tag that it'd barely give any idea of what's actually going on in the manga. And the tags for a lot of those specific topics under transgender already exist, which would make transgender redundant.
