If it's a reseller, prob not. Back in high school, my parents bought me a laptop that, when I searched the manufacturer's site to see what RAM it had, was sold to us with less than the minimum that the manufacturer sells them with. Fuckers probably took a stick out to sell it back to people...

I just recently bought a laptop and while researching I found one with a rtx 4040 and a good cpu but only 8 gb of ram, so..

Why would he even have a gaming laptop if he's not gaming on the road or regularly switching between two apartments? Maybe if he was a uni student, needing to bring his own laptop to the campus and not being wealthy enough to have both a desktop gaming PC and an office laptop for studies, but he's a high school kid. He just wanted a laptop for no particular reason and is now lamenting the difficulty of upgrading. Unless it was totally out of his hands, with his parents telling him they will only get a laptop for him.
