Man japanese authors they always have to make the most innocent looking one always be the freaking villain and also always have to have some kind of trash arc my god these last 2 chapters have really made this series go down alot literally makes no sense for her to still be confined at this point one wonders how the princess is not on the throne if she can somehow confine our main lead like this so easily without the king being able to do jack shit.

what would bring this arc home for me, and what would ultimately make it feel like a worthwhile addition, is if the mishandling on the royals' side is completely intentional from an authorial perspective, and this is ultimately going to come down to "maybe royalty is bad, actually." this story has previously covered the problems with feudalism, so i could see "tearing down the monarchy" as an ending. that said, i've only read to the end of volume 5, so.

(even if we don't get this ending though a future chapter has something just for me so i'm already satisfied.)

This feels pretty unsatisfying. Might need to drop till full arc is done.

because... well.. uh... I believe there is no other arc after this one

me personally, I wouldn't say unsatisfying,
it does tie some loose end to the plot
I remember it gives a somewhat reasonable motive behind the actions (if you can call it reasonable at all)
you know, that the antagonists are not inherently evil, they're not doing evil things for the sake of evil
there's a reason

it's not that bad
