forgive me if I m being overly skeptical, but this feels much more like "I dont know what I m supposed to do, like I have no idea, so I m postponing this, but I cant afford to take a break because manga might get axed, so I will take a sick leave"

Pray for your quick recovery author. Sometimes you just have to say screw it.....YOLO.

It had a sketchy prelude to what the next arc will be, but I do hope it can gain momentum again once the mangaka gets back.
I've read promising manga titles which had a really good momentum going, only for the mangaka to take a health-sabbatical for as short as 1 month, only to never regain its foothold, gets re-established with worse release schedule and ultimately axed (latest I saw this is with the Chiisai Boku no Haru manga by Atsumi Takeru).

But whatever happens, I hope the mangaka will get better health-wise. It's better to get one work axed now, than to never be able to draw ever again (reminded me of Fujiwara Cocoa-sensei).

I doubt it. Taking sick leave in Japan is often seen as shameful because you're just supposed to suck it up and suffer through your problems rather than inconveniencing anyone else. Additionally the manga industry is well known for how much of a meatgrinder it is in terms of how much it will just thoughtlessly push mangaka to kill themselves for their work rather than figure out a way that lets them deliver quality content without, y'know, murdering themselves in the process. It is extremely likely that the mangaka worked themselves to the breaking point and the promise of coming back with the next arc ready to go was the way they negotiated getting a month off to recover.

Honestly I'm kind of sick of how that industry treats its artists, but I've said before that I doubt anything changes because the causes are too deeply baked into Japanese society for them to want to change unless something drastic happens.

I m aware of a mangaka circumstances, but normally because of their culture they dont stop working even when sick and use the hiatus when they really need it. but I realized a thing that makes me conflicted, which is this mangaka has a lot of manga under their name but at the same time they are mostly oneshots or short ones, so I doubt they would stuck in a corner, but at the same time I still think mangaka doesnt want to rush the story because through normal means this manga doesnt have much left.
though I dont think author is aiming more than 50 anyways

Good, figure out where you're going with this, author. imo you should have resolved the fake identity ages ago
(I know they'll never see this)
So it's not resolved yet? I've not read past chapter 1 yet, but saw the hiatus announcement.

When did the 1 month timer start?

Eeh, guessing it’ll come back before June 2025…?

The author released her notice on March 24th, but ch. 25 was March 31st.
So tentatively, it should return early May, I think?

To be fair story is pretty bad. Medicore at best. But keep in mind that this is (probably) first long format series from this autor. So cut some slack. And in the end. Autor itself doesn't have much say in end result of story it's probably editorial department trying to stir infinite drama until series is dead. It's same story for 90% of manga nowadays
