35 km? damn. but she did plan it out so she won't suffer. bottles of water, food and perhaps extra socks. and possible a little first aid kit.
Love how she rests in the hot spring. she did deserve that for sure. :hearts:

That is one of the thighs I liked about Japn. You could literally walk from one ass end of Japan to the other. It's highly geared to Pedestrians and public transport
And it's easy to do exactly what she did here: go as far as you want on foot, then hop the train home. Here in the states you always have to be thinking about how far you go, because you're gonna have to walk just as far going back.

This is especially handy when you have it in mind to get drunk at your destination.

Walking 35Km burns 1000-1750 calories depending on weight. Each one of those meals is close too 1000-2000 Calories.
So she will still gain weight, this is why counting calories/carbs is essential to losing weight

Is not really that bad, tbh. When you go to Japan on vacation you're going to spend most of the day walking, outside of time spent eating and riding trains. 8-10 hours of walking per day, every day, isn't unusual at all for the trips I've taken there. Out of the hotel/bnb at 9-10am, back around midnight. Yeah your feet are gonna hurt in the evenings after a few days of that but as long as you know when you need to sit down and take a break it's perfectly manageable.

Great demonstration of why dieting is much more effective for weight less than exercise.
I'd even go one step further and say that exercise for the purpose of weight loss is something of a widespread scam.

It is the quality of your diet - that is, the type of food - and not even predominantly the quantity that determines body fat and weight.

The second major scam is that all calories are the same, so the focus is on the total amount of calories, instead of the type.
1000 calories of lettuce != 1000 calories of chocolate ice cream.

They are entirely two different compounds affecting the body's hormonal system differently, even if caloric energy is equal.

Counting calories is just another scam. Focus on the type of food, not the amount. // End of rant.
