@1059212 For some, they joined up to do dangerous shit and kill people. Returning to civilian life after that (be it dishonourable or honourable discharge) can make someone feel like all the colour has been leached from the world, so they turn to working for mafioso or loan sharks or similar to get that feeling back. Others only really know that lifestyle of violence and can't operate in civilian spheres properly, can't acclimate to how it's changed, and so fall back on the only thing they know how to do. Lucky ones will get picked up for private security, unlucky ones for work like this.
