It is the equivalent of 1864 tech not WWI tech. The conflict is based on the Second Schleswig War.

I do wonder what the ultimate conclusion is going to be. If they knock out the Elfind military and government then what? Put in a puppet government? Annexation? A military occupation is very draining on a country. Giving back the land that the white elves took from the races they booted out would be the obvious thing first.

Personally I don't think it'll be any of that. I think it's likely that while the taken land will be held onto, the nation as a whole might be given the failed state treatment.

At first, with modern morals, we’d sympathize with the civilians getting killed by artillery fire.
But then I remember that this city was originally the Dwarven capital and the dwarves were genocided so that Light Elves could take over and occupy these houses, and from what we saw of the pogroms, the civilian elf population was very much an active participant in the ethnic cleansing, and my sympathy dries up.

It’s still there, but, well, these elves are part of the generation that took an active part in murdering their neighbors, so…

I'd really like to hear more about the Elfen-Dwarven war, like when did it start, why did it start, etc.
From the looks of it the White Elves really expanded quite a bit given they drove Kobolds away, took over dwarven land and had giant eagles and giant wolves hunted down by the dark elves before getting rid of the dark elves themselves. So a lot of the territory the Orcs are taking right now is not originally Elfenland.
Would be curious to see how dwarves react returning to their old city lost who knows how many decades ago.
