I think the point of this pacing is to show the vice's abuse of power leading to him mastering every subject or something, and he graduates as a Jack of all trades.

I know this is supposed to make the MC look humble and not corrupted by power and all, but it sounds way more like "I'm a coward that does not care about anyone else"
